The consulting practices team closely follows current trends in the securities trading industry and carries out research in the areas of systems quality, performance and reliability.

Leading financial institutions achieve their competitive advantage through the quality and efficiency of their trading and back-office platforms and require control over their testing solutions, as well as the ability to adapt them alongside with rapidly evolving trading systems.

To address these needs, Exactpro Systems is working on open architecture of a reference test harness that can be used as a whole or on a per component basis, both by our clients and by other companies operating in financial computing. We use reliable open source tools widely recognized across the industry and supportable by large user communities and commercial vendors.

OpenME, a scalable matching engine with simplified architecture (no fault tolerance, no intraday reference data updates), is capable of processing large volumes of incoming orders per partition. As a result, it can be used to simulate realistic market conditions:

  • The order book is recreated from historical market data;
  • Several competing algorithms and arbitrage systems are
  • simultaneously connected to the test market;
  • Clients can customize counter flow models and reflect in them the view on latency, probability of fill, impact of the hidden liquidity, scalping orders, order book convergence to historical prices, etc.

When the performance of a trading system is tested, there are a few the principles that need to be taken into account. There are a few things to watch for that can have a significant impact on the effort involved in load testing and the credibility of the test results.

The following presentation is based on our experience with testing matching engines, smart order routers, order management and execution management systems, straight through processing, risk management and position keeping systems, as well as front- middle- and back-office platforms: Performance Testing Principles

Quality and stability of the algorithmic trading systems become a crucial factor in the current trading landscape. We distinguish three aspects of advanced execution systems quality:

  • Functional correctness;
  • Technical - performance, latency, resilience;
  • Business efficiency.

The following presentation also briefly discusses the complexities of advance execution systems and provides an overview of certain testing principles that need to be followed: QA for Advanced Execution Systems

Test automation usually reduces the overall testing effort by decreasing the time which QA analysts have to spend on repeatable tasks. Quite often automation also adds more depth to the testing process without reducing the actual effort.

The following presentation discusses a few principles and recommendations to be considered when starting a test automation project, as well as a number of items that can have a significant impact on the effort involved in creating test harnesses and comprehensive libraries of automated tests.

The following presentation briefly discusses the typical structure of Risk Management Systems, business logic verification, end-to-end testing and automation, typical automated tests, sanity checks, and collaboration with business users:

A properly functioning Project Governance model enables quicker and more accurate decision making, by embedding responsibility and accountability into the business organization.

Exactpro's approach to information security ensures the security of sensitive client information.

The above is briefly described in the following presentation, which also provides a short overview of our company's office infrastructure in Russia: Project Governance
